READY NWI and the Works Council of Northwest Indiana kicked off a 5-day camp on Monday, August 4th with Purdue University Calumet’s Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation. The camp was geared towards seventh through ninth grade student and focused on career paths in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) field.
The half day camp sessions will feature introductions to wind energy, power generation, steel manufacturing, and technology. Tours and virtual simulated hands-on demonstrations will delve into technologies that are used in manufacturing and engineering labs, 3D studio labs, and much more. Speakers from CIVS, NIPSCO, ArcelorMittal, Tri-State Industries, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Trade Union, will engage students in discussion throughout the week, on their individual interests, career opportunities, and answers to general questions they may have related to STEM.
The intent of this READY NWI and Works Council five-day camp is to educate students and inspire them to follow career paths in science, technology, engineering, and math fields.
